Hello my little fledglings! So, you have an amazing product or service to announce to the world. You need to target thousands of eyes. That’s why you chose Twitter! And you know Twitter can make it happen because Mama Bird (that would be me) told you so in my book, with supporting proof from other Twitterati!
But how to target? Let’s use the example of a medical professional who specializes in dental implants.
Tweets with pictures in them get 60 percent more views, and introducing humor not only makes the tweet (and you) more memorable, it endears you to the viewer. Who could resist clicking on a tweet with this image:
2. Body of Tweet
The main text of your tweet might be something like “Time for a new smile?” And then you’d want to add two more components:
3. Hashtags (# signs)
When marketing a service or product, you need to advertise it where potential customers would see it. Hashtags channel your tweet into streams where people are searching for that information. The hashtags in the example below finely target likely prospects.
4. Web Links
The objective of your tweet is to get people to want and then buy what you sell. Make it easy for them by giving them the link to the purchase page or, in the case of a dentist or oral surgeon, your website where they can get more information to encourage them to contact you (your curriculum vitae, testimonials from happy patients, information about all the dental services you provide, your phone number).
Example of a Great Tweet
Lakes Dental Care is doing almost everything right in this tweet. They have an engaging image; they’ve injected additional humor with the hashtag suggesting it’s National False Teeth Day; and they’ve targeted five streams where people logically might be searching for information about implants (#Dentures, #FalseTeeth, #NationalFalseTeethDay, #Implants #Dental #LakesDentalCare). Two things they could add to improve this tweet would be a link to their website and hashtags geared to their local market: #ChicagoDentist and #ChicagoHealth.
See? It’s not that hard to create a tweet that will market your product or service to thousands. And it’s free!
