Book Review: Laugh Your Way to Real Estate Sales Success
There’s nothing like the voice of experience to put things in perspective, which is one of the reasons that a new book on the real estate business is worth a closer look. The reason that I say “a closer look” is that it’s easy to let the many nuggets of wisdom slip by you if you rush through it. That’s what I did during my first reading of “Laugh Your Way to Real Estate Sales Success,” by Cathy Turney.
My first impression was that it did deliver many “laugh out loud” moments as promised, but it did not contain the real estate marketing insights and success tips I hoped for. Then I took a closer look at the book’s content and realized that I had been too hasty in my rush to judgement. Not only is there valuable advice interspersed throughout the book, but there’s also thought-provoking bits of wisdom at the end of each chapter, in the form of in Post-it notes.
The book is a good read for both new real estate agents and experienced Realtors because it not only serves as a reality check for new or aspiring agents with unrealistic expectations, but it also shares valuable lessons the author learned during her 25+ years in the real estate business. She dispels the misconception that real estate license is an automatic ticket to a 6-figure income, but also reveals the mindset, attitude, and strategies that helped her become one of the top producers (upper 10%) in the United States. “If it were easy,” she reminds the reader, “then 232 million people would be doing it.”
